Andries Adrianse Onderdonk was a native
of New Castle, Delaware according to his marriage record. Andries appeared in
Flatbush as early as 1672, when he purchased land there. His name appears on the
list of communicants of the Dutch Church at Flatbush from 1677 until 1685 when
he removed to Jamaica, Queens, NY. He died there before 13 August 1687, killed
it is said by the upsetting of a load of straw. He married Maria, daughter of
Dirck Janse Van der Vliet, on 11 November 1683. Maria married second to Jacob
Janse Vanderbilt, 13 August 1687. (Ancestry.com entry 1484, 25
